The Asia-Pacific Library and Information Education and Practice Conference invites you to submit papers for the 2021 Virtual Conference to be held on October 21-22, 2021. The A-LIEP conference is a biennial event (with some exceptions) and this will be the 10th iteration and the first virtual event.
This year's theme
The conference theme is: Crossroads of Information, Human Rights, Social Justice and Equality.
The theme is inspired by current circumstances in various parts of the world where lack of information or abuse of information has given rise to injustices, misinformation has misled people on political, economic, or health concerns, and censorship and control of the narrative by the powerful has hindered social and political progress. These raise questions about the appropriate roles of LIS educators and professionals in an interconnected world where improper use of information, social and pervasive technologies can have pandemic and endemic consequences. The conference will provide a venue for the discussion of such realizations and issues, and possible solutions in the context of information use, information profession, libraries, LIS education, and LIS research.
Tracks and Integration Sessions
The new track on Education and Pedagogy provides a venue where we can discuss/exchange ideas relating to pedagogy, curriculum, tenure, promotion, and other matters relating to LIS educators and teaching. We are inviting submissions of abstracts for discussion for a maximum of 3,000 words.

The Student Research Ideathon is a venue where students can participate and exchange ideas on how to draft research proposals and conduct research. This can be an opportunity for students to get research collaborators, or suggestions for improvement of their proposals, or ideas for their future research. We are inviting proposals from students/alumni who have already completed their research or students who currently are in the stages of drafting proposals to share their experiences, issues, roadblocks, best practices, etc. Deadline of submission for all papers and abstracts is on August 15, 2021.
Research Ideathon - Future Directions for LIS Research
Call for participation and proposals for PhD and Master's students in Library & Information Science (LIS) Programs in Asia and Pacific
